Here is the latest update from MCALF Bogue:
MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT, N.C. (Jan. 10, 2018) – Communities
surrounding Marine Corps Auxiliary Landing Field Bogue, in Bogue, N.C., are
advised that daytime F-35B short takeoff/vertical landing (STOVL) test
events are scheduled to take place Jan. 11 through Feb. 21.
Visiting F-35 Patuxent River Integrated Test Force teams are conducting
STOVL tests that will expand expeditionary capabilities for the Marine
Corps’ newest fighter jet. Testing will consist of a series of vertical
landing maneuvers in simulated expeditionary conditions on the airfield.
While these are daytime test events, there may be occasions when testing
runs past sunset.
As these operations are different from normal flight ops at MCALF Bogue,
people in the vicinity of the airfield may experience unusual noise
conditions during the testing. The Marine Corps and the Pax River ITF will
take all precautions to lessen the impact of testing and training activities
on the community.
Anyone with concerns regarding noise, vibration and/or low-flying aircraft
in the vicinity of MCALF Bogue can call the MCAS Cherry Point Noise Hotline
at 252-466-1092 to report those concerns.
